Mark Anthony Cella fresh water fishing lakes
Fishing has become many a man’s sport now-a-days. So, before heading to your lake ofchoice, call ahead of time to the nearest lodge or tackle shop to find out when the lake is stocked. You don’t want to drive for hours and get to a lake with no more fish.
Because most anglers snatch up all the fish within a few days of the lake being stocked you’ll want to know what to expect. If you’re expecting to head up the mountain on a Friday and the lake was stocked Monday, well it’s gonna be a lot more challenging, not impossible, just challenging to catch your dinner.

This article isn’t going to cover the basic equipment you must have in order to even begin. It’s knowing what time of day and weather conditions that will also help you dramatically. From my experience fresh water fish love to eat when it’s dark and cold. Early morning and late evenings are best.
The cooler the better, rainy or snowy weather are the best. Try and fish during the winter and do so at 4:00 am. If it’s raining or snowing it’s by far the most exciting cause the fish are hungry, jumping and you’re trying not to freeze at the same time. Be careful of lightning showers or you’ll end up cooked fish bait yourself.

OK, so you got there the day after the lake is stalked, it’s 4:00 am, it’s raining and you’re covered, now you need the right bait and lures. Freshwater fish become accustomed to the flavors they were raised with so experimenting with bait flavors is advised, or ask another angler.
When it comes to the best lures, use small double hooks that are shiny or sparkly as the fish seem to spot them easiest in the dark, rainy, early morning. And during the day reverse this and use dark lures to real them in as they seem to be on the lookout and can probably see dark things moving better then the shiny lures which may appear too much like the sun.
